CLUB AWARDS
The presentation of the Club awards takes place at an annual dinner. They commemorate the lives of Old Salvos tragically lost too early.
Requiescat in pace.
The Sean Rickard Memorial Trophy
(Young Member of the year)
Sean was a young man of great character and potential, who passed away following being hit by a car on his way home, having played for Old Salvos that fateful Saturday afternoon.
A tragic loss to family and friends at only 23, the trophy was donated by the Callanan family for the Club to honour Sean's memory.
This award is presented to the player under 23, who the captains consider to have the potential to be not just a strong player in the years to come but who also embodies the spirit of the club. Many of those who have received this award have gone on to play 1st XI football and remained with the club for many years.
The trophy is regularly presented by Gerry Callanan, Sean's cousin who donated the award, and/or Tom Rickard his eldest brother.
