OSFC CONSTITUTION

The Constitution

 

1. Name : The Club shall be called the "Old Salvatorians Football Club", hereinafter referred to as "the Club".

 

2. Objects : The objects of the Club shall be to provide facilities for the playing of Association Football and for the social intercourse of its members.

 

3. Membership : All applications for membership are subject to approval by the committee. There will be four classes of membership:

 

  1. Full membership is open to all wishing to play Association Football for the Club, in particular past and present pupils and Masters of Salvatorian College and St Dominic’s Sixth Form College. Consideration for membership and playing selection will be in line with the Clubs Equality policy appended below.

 

  1. Non players members may become Associate members of the Club.

 

  1. Temporary membership for those players wishing to join the Club on a trial basis. Such players may only play a maximum of 5 games before becoming Full members or their temporary membership lapses.

 

  1. The committee shall have the power to elect as Honorary Life Members of the Club any persons who shall, in the opinion of the Committee, have rendered services to the Club, but such elections require subsequent confirmation at the Club’s Annual General Meeting.

 

4 Committee : The Club shall be managed by a Management Committee of Members (the Committee) and shall consist  of :-

                Chair; Secretary; Treasurer; Social Committee Chair; Fixture Secretary; Selection Committee Chair; Membership and Liaison Secretary, Football Development Officer.

 

The Committee shall be elected at the Annual General Meeting of the Club, held in each year, and subject to termination of office by resignation or otherwise, shall remain in office until their successors are elected at the next Annual General Meeting. The Committee shall have power to fill any vacancy that may occur. Retiring members of the Committee shall be eligible for re-election. The Committee shall meet at least monthly during the playing season and at other times deemed necessary to conduct the business of the Club.

 

The Committee may appoint such sub-committees as may be thought desirable, and co-opt such additional members as the Committee consider necessary. Such co-opted members shall have all the powers of Committee members.


5 By - Laws :  The Committee shall have power to make by-laws for regulating the conduct and affairs of the Club provided the same are not inconsistent with these rules. Such by-laws shall be made available to all members of the Club and shall be binding on them.

 

6. Disciplinary action :  The Committee shall have the power to fine, suspend or expel any member who shall offend against the rules of the Club, or whose conduct shall in the opinion of the Committee render him unfit for membership of the Club. Before any member is expelled the Secretary shall give him at least seven days written notice to attend a meeting of the full Committee and shall inform him of the complaints made against him. No member shall be expelled without first having the opportunity of appearing before the full Committee and answering complaints against him nor unless two-thirds of the Committee vote in favour of his expulsion.

 

7 Annual General Meeting : A General Meeting of the Club shall be held in every year not later than the last Saturday of June to transact the following business :

to receive and adopt the statement of the Club’s accounts to the end of the preceding year;

to receive and adopt the Annual Reports of the Club’s retiring officers (as appropriate);

to consider and, if approved, sanction any duly made alteration of the Constitution of the Club;

to appoint the Officers and other members of the Committee;

to appoint team captains and other non-committee officers of the Club as appropriate;

to deal with any special matter which the Committee desire to bring before the members and to receive suggestions from the members for consideration by the Committee.

 

Members must be informed of the convening of the Annual General Meeting not less than 14 days before the meeting and shall be informed of matters to be dealt with.

 

8. Special General Meeting :  A Special General Meeting may be convened at any time by the Committee and shall be convened within 21 days from the receipt of a request in writing signed by not less than twelve full members specifying the object of the meeting for any of the following purposes :

to consider and, if approved, sanction any duly made alteration of the Constitution of the Club;

to deal with any special matter which the Committee may desire to place before members, including the expulsion of a member;

to receive the resignation of the Committee or to remove any member thereof from office and to fill any vacancy or vacancies caused thereby;

to deal with any special matter which the members may desire to place before the Club.

 

Notice convening a Special General Meeting shall be sent to all members not less than 7 days before the meeting and shall specify the matter to be dealt with.

 

9. Subscriptions :

Annual Subscriptions : shall be determined at each Annual General Meeting and shall be due on the 15th day of October in every year.

Match Subscriptions : every player will pay a match fee for every game in which he plays for the Club, such fee to be determined at the Annual General Meeting.

 

Any player whose current annual subscription is paid by the 15th day of October shall receive a discount for membership as determined at each Annual General Meeting.

 

Any player whose current annual subscription has not been paid by the third Saturday in November shall not be deemed to be a member of the Club and shall not be considered for selection, until such time as the full annual subscription has been paid.

 

10. Chair vote : At Committee meetings and at general meetings the Chair, or if  absent a person elected to preside, shall have an additional vote in the event of an equality of votes.

 

11. Quorum : At Committee meetings (except for the purposes of rule 6) four shall be a quorum. At General Meetings not less than twenty- five members shall form a quorum.

 

12. Interpretation :  The Committee shall be empowered to rule as necessary upon the interpretation of these rules and upon any matter not covered by them.

 

 

 

Equality Policy

 

Old Salvatorians Football Club:

·          is committed to promoting equality by treating people fairly and with respect, by recognising that inequalities may exist, by taking steps to address any such inequalities and by providing access and opportunities for all members of the community.

·          is committed to confronting and eliminating discrimination whether by reason of gender, sexual orientation, marital status, age, race, nationality, ethnic origin, colour, religion or belief, ability or disability, and to encouraging equal opportunities.

·          in all its activities, will not discriminate, or in any way treat anyone less favourably, on grounds of gender, sexual orientation, marital status, age, race, nationality, ethnic origin, colour, religion or belief, ability or disability. The Club will ensure that it treats people fairly and with respect and that it provides access and opportunities for all members of the community to take part in, and enjoy, its activities.

·          will not tolerate harassment, bullying, abuse or victimisation of an individual, which for the purposes of this Policy and the actions and sanctions applicable is regarded as discrimination. This includes sexual or racially based harassment or other discriminatory behaviour, whether physical or verbal. The Club will work to ensure that such behaviour is met with appropriate action in whatever context it occurs.

·          is committed to a policy of equal treatment of all members and requires all members to abide and adhere to these policies and the requirements of the relevant equalities legislation – Race Relations Act 1976, Sex Discrimination Act 1975, Disability Discrimination Act 1995 and Age Discrimination Act 2006, as well as any amendments to these Acts.

·          commits itself to the immediate investigation of any claims, when they are brought to its attention, of discrimination on the above grounds. Such claims should be made in writing to the Committees Chairman. Where such claims are found to be proved, the Club will ensure that the practice is stopped and subsequent sanctions will be imposed, as appropriate.

Implementation

Old Salvatorians Football Club

·          will continue to follow the AFA and the Football Association guidance in the area of equality, which will support the Club in its commitment to ensuring that this Equality Policy is purposefully monitored, evaluated and developed.

·          is committed to the development of a programme of ongoing training and awareness-raising events and activities in order to promote the eradication of discrimination within football. The Club is committed to the publication and promotion of this Policy and will ensure regular consultation with organisations involved with equality, to ensure that its policies, programmes and services are based on current legislation, research and good practice.

·          This Equality Policy is fully supported by the Committee of Old Salvatorians Football Club and the chairman of the committee is responsible for its implementation.
