NEW HOME

Paul Jordan has been able to obtain a container free of charge, to store all

of our kits and training gear, plus our memorabilia!

This is fantastic news.

Paul has fitted it out with shelving. Huge thank you Jorders.

Howz That!

A few days ago, some of our older players challenged a Salvos team, selected

by Jake Harrington, to a game of cricket at Rickmansworth Cricket Club.

Jakes report is as follows:

It was a cracking evening last night, most of us played really well considering none of us have played before… to come down to the last ball was something else!

Team Sheet

Joe Maguire – he bowled wide left, he bowled wide right…..he took the wicket!!!!!

Leo Harrington – He got me run out (enough said)

Kev Flahive – MOM He hit his 25 retired and came back in!

Kevin Dobson – He got very upset at being caught like that!!

Dave Chick – The man has a new sport, No1 fielder!

Malachi – He cost us the game! A bit more muscle and it would of gone for 4 and he would not of heard the quacks!

Jorders – Hit the batsmen twice in the head whilst bowling!!

Jennings – Highlight was taking the catch as wicket keeper to send Tom Moore back to the stands…and calling Dempsey a spineless coward for jumping out the way of the ball!

Anthony McCarthy – second best catch of the day….and the campest throw you have ever seen!

Eddy Dempsey…..There is now a new goal celebration, its called The Dempsey, he span 360 degrees and dived out the way of the ball!

Simon (is Magic) Brown – he contributed more than some of us. Well done for sorting the beers!

Peter Snell and Barry – the most pissed umpire’s I have ever seen!

I am sure that this will become an annual event for most of us and I look forward to next year….or sooner!  (I feel bad dropping Eddy and Malachi the day after!)

Supporting the Club

Peter Cregg has done the most amazing job with our new web site, which is nearing completion.

We have, or will have soon, details of our excellent sponsorship options. Please read them,

and ask your colleagues/Companies that you know if they are interested in sponsoring our Club.

The packages our excellent, and offer real business opportunities to both small and large

Companies.

Don’t be shy, they are a really good proposition.

If you have any queries ask Peter Snell (07973 709847)

21st Century

We are giving all Captains some technological aids this Season.

We hope this will increase their efficiency, and also add much need material to our web page.

We will also be looking to expanding our awareness of social networking. We hope to use this

in a number of ways, but particularly for our Sponsors.

Salvos 60th

Please note this year is our 60th Anniversary, and Peter Cregg is well down

the line organising our Gala Dinner and Dance.

It will be held at Met Police Sports Ground in Bushey on Saturday May 10th.

It will be black tie or lounge suit, and we are arranging string quartet and champagne reception,

guest speaker, live band and disco, and much more.

Tickets are £50 per head, and can be purchased through the web site.

Thanks for all your work so far Creggy

DISCIPLINE

Last year was a disaster for the Club in terms of ill-discipline on the football pitch, particularly

dissent. I have NEVER seen a referee change his mind after being abused!

As you know, we already add a surcharge for this offence.

Unless we can curb this unnecessary offence, we may have to introduce a club suspension.

Please look to yourselves to bring self-discipline into your on-field behaviour.

Last year the Club paid out £175 in fines, on top of those individuals fines.

EDDIE McGillycuddy.

Congratulations to our own Eddie McGillycuddy who was a finalist in this year's C.I.O.B Construction Manager of the Year.

Well done Eddie
